The Clan's First Witching
Holly
Coven Status:
Witchling
Sunday March 4th, 2001
Generally a year and a day after the birth of a newborn, many covens and/or solitary practitioners perform for their offspring a ritual/ceremony called a Witching, also called a Paganing or a Wiccaning, with which to dedicate the young one's spiritual teachings within the family to the pagan path. When the child is old enough to make his/her own decisions, s/he may choose on her own to seek out alternatives with which to make an informed personal choice. The Witching ritual is a presentation of the infant to the Deities and various aspects of the coven's path, just as other valid religious paths dedicate their own young to their own particular religious path.
With the rest of the coven members participating in the rite, the ritual was centered by High Priestess Mary with Badger: Laura and Scott's Holly was formally dedicated to learning a spiritual pagan path.
